How Up North Pizza Co Ltd collects, uses and looks after your personal information. Last updated 29 September 2026.
Who we are
Up North Pizza Co Ltd trades as Up North Pizzeria & Deli. The restaurant is at R1 Sea Winnings Way, Westoe Crown, South Shields NE33 3PE. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have a question about this policy or how we use your information, call us on 0191 455 0271, write to us at the restaurant address or ask to speak to a manager when you are in.
What we collect and why
Table bookings
When you book a table you use our booking system, provided by resOS. It asks for your name, phone number, email address, party size, date and time, and any notes you add such as a birthday or an allergy. Card details for the £5 per person deposit are taken by resOS and its payment provider. We never see your full card number. We use this information to hold your table, contact you about the booking and refund your deposit when you arrive. Legal basis: performance of a contract with you.
Online orders, gift cards and merch
Online ordering, gift cards and merch are run on Square. When you use those services Square collects your details and payment under its own privacy policy. We receive what we need to prepare and hand over your order, such as your name, contact details, the order itself and the collection time. Legal basis: performance of a contract with you.
Allergies and dietary needs
If you tell us about an allergy or intolerance, whether in person, on the phone or in a booking note, we use it only to prepare your food as safely as we can and to give you accurate information. This is health information, so we rely on your explicit consent, which you give by telling us. We do not keep it once your booking or order is complete unless you ask us to.
Paying in the restaurant
Card payments in the restaurant are processed by Square. We do not store your card details.
Phone calls, email and social media
If you call, email or message us we keep the details you give us for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. Messages sent through Instagram or Facebook are also covered by those platforms’ own privacy policies. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to you.
Website visitors
We do not run analytics or advertising tracking on this website. Our hosting provider, SiteGround, keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and pages requested, to keep the site secure and running. Some pages load content from other services, such as the map on our home page, the booking widget and our allergen list, and those services may set cookies. Our cookie policy explains what they are and how to control them. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Job applications
If you apply to work with us we use your application, CV and anything you tell us at interview to assess your suitability. We keep unsuccessful applications for up to six months in case a similar role comes up, then delete them. If you join the team, your details move to your staff record. Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the companies that help us run the business, and only for the purposes above:
- resOS, our table booking system, and its payment provider
- Square, for online ordering, gift cards, merch and card payments
- SiteGround, which hosts this website in the UK
- Microsoft 365, which runs our email
- Our accountants and bookkeeping software, for transaction records
We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with HMRC, the police or environmental health.
Where it is stored
Our website is hosted in the UK. Some of the providers above store data outside the UK, including in the EU and the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by a UK adequacy decision or by standard contractual clauses approved for use in the UK.
How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it. Booking and order records tied to a payment are kept for six years to meet tax and accounting rules. Enquiries are deleted once dealt with. Allergy notes are not kept beyond the booking or order they relate to.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it and to have it moved to another provider. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you spoke to us first so we can put it right.
Children
Families are welcome, but this website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 through it. Bookings must be made by an adult.

We will update this page when anything changes and show the date at the top.
